Biennale of street art

Over the course of several months, the II Biennale of Street Art will introduce Muscovites to iconic representatives of international street art headlined by Barcelona-based street artist Miss Van, Spanish street artist Spy, and the world-famous duo The London Police.
On the occasion of the Biennale a unique piece was created : a handmade carpet made in Siberia, out of my painting ‘While I Was Waiting For You I’ (200 x 150cm).
My latest series ‘Pom Pom Masks’ was also presented for the first time.
There will be the 2nd street art Biennale ARTMOSPHERE in Moscow from 30 August to 18 January. It will allow many Moscow citizens to meet iconic world street art representatives during number of months.
The central Biennale event is going to be a group exposition in the enormous Moscow Manege space: in the heart of the capital there will be introduced 26 Russian and 42 foreign artists who were shaped by street art. This year the main project will bear a multicuratorial status: international curators, museums and galleries are presenting the artists whose main specialty is street art. All introduced works will be unique – the artists are going to create them in Moscow during art residencies.
The topic of the 2nd street art Biennale ARTMOSPHERE is the Invisible wall. A wall being an internal limitations metaphor yet at the same time is a street-art symbol, its natural development environment, self-expression and high-grade transformations ground. The project mission is to inspire to continuous experimenting, overcoming fears, own rules creating, converting challenges into springboards.
The Biennale headliners will be: Miss Van, grown in street-art cradle, in Barcelona, she denied the stereotype that street art is an exclusive man business; a Spanish artist Spy will demonstrate his skill to work brilliantly with the city context in real life Moscow and also a duet with bright and widely recognized style of The London police for frantic bombing in all cosmopolises streets.

Among Russian artists of the main project chosen through open competition Biennale you will be able to see the already famous Moscow street works of Zoom’ and art-group «Zlye», Moscow graffiti oldtimer Vova Nootk’, a young Mordovia artist Ivan Ninety, the author of Pink Power project Yulia Vanifatieva аs well as Аndrei Аdno, Аnatoly Аkue, Stas Bags, Darion Shabbash, Кirill Basalaev, Аbel, Vladimir Аbikh, Аleksandra Кuznetsova, Еlena Shubentseva, Мisha Buryj, Aleksey Partola.
In curatorial group Vltramarine block that is responsible for homeland graffiti stage presenting: Dmitri Aske, Alexei Luka, Petro, Iliya Slak, Vitalii Sy, Pavel Rtue, Misha Most, Pasha 183.
Sabina Chagina – a curator of artistic union ARTMOSPHERE and Biennale co-organizer:
«This year for producing the main project we have invited institutions, galleries and independent experts whose outlooks are focused in street art.
Every of 11 main project curators will introduce that street art layer which he/she works with and considers to be interesting to show.
Even today I can say that thanks to such approach there will be able to see the works of those artists that are not usually shown in Russia and to meet a variety of unexpected opinions».
The 2nd street art Biennale ARTMOSPHERE program will occupy a number of spaces: special projects are going to be demonstrated in №64 «Optics» Pavillion at VDNKh (#project64 expo, 15 September – 18 January), in Tsekh Belogo at Winzavod (KEY POINT exhibition, 15 November – 18 January), in Actual RuArts Art Gallery (the one-man exhibition of Marat ‘Morik’ Danilian, 5 October – 5 November), METAFORMS virtual reality expo in Modern Art Centre MARS will be prolonged till 30 October. The results of open public art contest “ZILART in the city” sponsored by a development company «LSR Group» will be summed up during the winners’ projects expo in Zilart Hall (29 November – 20 December). Educational events will take place in Strelka, RuArts Gallery and department store «Tsvetnoy».
There will also be the second supporting street art Auction on 14 September as part of Biennale ARTMOSPHERE организованныйwhich was organizes in cooperation with RuArts foundation where it will be possible to purchase the works produced in the course of Biennale and according to the auction results there will be traditionally awarded grants supporting street-art projects and street artists. At art-маrket in department store «Tsvetnoy» on 22-25 September you will be able to buy already famous artists’ works who have left graffiti-stages and are exhibiting in galleries.
